Learning Focus:
I can…

  • create a title that is appropriate to a short story
  • edit for spelling, punctuation and capitalization
  • use resources for editing

Opening:

1. On your final draft, write a title that you think "grabs" a reader and gives them a big hint about the story.  Make sure it lets the reader PREDICT what the story MIGHT be about.

Work Period:

2. Create a publishable draft
  • Make sure it is error-free
  • Follow the rules of writing dialogue
  • Double-Check the spelling of words that MIGHT be incorrect
  • Check your grammar and punctuation
  • Use the tools available to you to create a error-free draft

Closing:

3. Volunteers Needed: Who wants to read a hook or a favorite section of a story?
