  • What is the best way to analyze the credibility of a source?

Opening;Throughout the class period, I'll stop by and ask to see your Independent Reading from SpringBreak.  Please be ready to show your log and your project to me when I arrive.

1.  Let's examine the editing section I gave you over break...
  • With your partner, quickly determine the right answers - 
    • what did you agree on?  
    • where do you disagree?  Why?
2. What are the best strategies for editing?  How do you approach editing differently than you do Revision?

3. Class Notebook: 3/21: Editing Test Strategies


Work Period:4. Distribute the STAAR writing prompt.
  • What is the strategy for unpacking a STAAR Prompt?  What steps should you take when approaching the essay portion of the STAAR?
  • Do you prefer to do the essay first, in the middle, or last?

5. Take a few minutes and take notes on the "Read" and "Think" portions of the prompt.

6.  What is the QUESTION being asked by the prompt?

7.  Tonight, brainstorm ideas for your response to this prompt.

8. Go online: SpringBoard activity 2.6
  • New Partners: Create a sticky note with both names present on the note.
9. Review:
  • What are some questions you have about advertising?
    • Create a Class Notebook Entry: 3/21 More Questions...

10.  When you read an article online,  how do you know a source is reliable and credible?
  • Edit the table and predict what each of the terms means in the table.

11. Clarify definitions and edit your table further.


Closing:
12.  Modeling evaluation:  I will project Activity 2.2 "$211 Billion and so much to buy..."
  • Help me analyze it

13.  Now, evaluate the source used in Activity 2.3 "Facts about Marketing to Children"
  • Take notes in your Class Notebook
