Lesson Objectives:

• Analyze characterization and character relationships.
• Provide textual support for ideas about characterization and plot.
• Compare film and novel treatments of the same text.
• Write a journal using the correct voice of a character.

Opening:

1. Group discussion on the Article of the Week.

2. Turn in any work before heading to Spring Break.

3. HANDOUT: Drama of the Week - (make-up grade for a low Article of the Week grade this 9 weeks!)

Work Period:

4. Begin watching the remaining clips from Holes.

• Continue paying attention to the character Miss Katherine.

5. Fill out the charts on pg. 249/250 as you watch the film.

6. On pg. 250 write a journal entry in the voice of Miss Katherine.

•  Write about one of the events in the flashbacks.

Closing:

7. Discuss extra credit Article of the Week and Independent Reading Log.
