Opening:
1. Turn in internal/external foldable with reflection on the back.

2. Share a few examples of the foldables.

Work Period:
3. Preview your copy of Holes by Louis Sachar.
     a. Look on the front cover and look at the picture on the front.
     b. Look on the back cover and read everything on it.
     c. Read the about the author section and the brag page.

4. Individually fill in the graphic organizer on pg. 220 in your Spring Board book.

5. Share with your group your analysis of the novel.

6. Discuss and create a double-entry journal in your Reading Notebooks.

7. Read the first chapter together. Look for important passages as we read.

Closing:
8. Write the first entry in the double-entry journal together.


HOMEWORK: Read Ch. 2&3, Make two entries in your double-entry journal.
