1. Spelling Bee Practice during Tutorials today and tomorrow. Spelling Bee moved to FRIDAY.
2. Large Group: Explore the openings of Kira-Kira and "My Superpowers":
- What important details of setting did you highlight?
- What important details that "set up" the situation or background behind the incident did you mark?
3. Discuss:
- What do you notice about Openings that build expectation for the rest of the story?
- What do we learn from about the narrators from the openings?
- What feelings are expressed?
- How do they express them?
- Is there dialogue?
- Why or why not?
Work Period:
4. Read the descriptions at the top of page 29, then complete the questions below the descriptions.
5. At the top of page 30, brainstorm all the qualities of a good narrative.
6. Review our Unpacked Embedded Assessment - how many of these are mentioned (mark them in your journal)
