Learning Goals:

Opening:

1. Review "Prediction" on page 5.

2. Preview the Embedded Assessment and mark the text:

  • identify an incident that changed the writer
  • narrate a story or incident of change
  • reflect on the importance of an incident
  • describe a vivid setting and portrayal of other people
  • use effective dialogue
  • organize a narrative with a beginning, middle and end
  • employ smooth transitions
  • use descriptive details
  • demonstrate appropriate spelling, punctuation and capitalization
  • demonstrate the writing process

Work Period:

3. Create a Bubble Map representing the Key Ideas and Skills in the EA

4. Summarize the EA at the bottom of page 5.

5. Complete the Graphic Organizer at the top of page 6 - use personal experiences to help you.

  • Create a list in your Journal for #1 and #2

6. How might your life change over the next couple of years? 


7. Create a list of changes that you are facing in your life (#5)

Closing:

7. Review the List of words that mean CHANGE (See Word Wall above the Screen).

8.  Choose one of those words and complete the "Word Map" on page 7 for HW.
