Opening:

1. Rehearse your dialogue one more time with a partner.  Those who wish to read aloud, please volunteer after you've rehearsed a few times.

2. In your journal, properly punctuate and capitalize the dialogue on the slip of paper.


3. Review your response to #2 on page 99.  Was your prediction accurate?  In what ways was your prediction accurate or inaccurate?

4. Be sure your group has at least 2 dictionaries for today's class.

5. What words were unfamiliar to you as you read "Morning at Green Gables"?

6. Circle the following additional words:

  • airily
  • bound
  • feathery
  • gable
  • gazed
  • greedily
  • glistening
  • lush
  • remembrance
  • scope


Work Period:

7. Reread "Morning at Green Gables" aloud.  

8. After reading, complete page 102 and 103.

Page 102Part One - Consult a thesaurus or dictionary to provide synonyms for each underlined words.
  • Use an additional word you originally underlined for #4 and its sentence from the text
Page 103Part Two - Choose five words that YOU underlined in the text and complete all columns of the Graphic Organizer
  • Guessed definition from Context
  • Confirmed definition from dictionary

Closing:
9. Complete Part Three at the bottom of page 103.  
  • Use as many of the new words from your reading as you can in your summary.
10. During the final minutes of class, walk around outside and find the perfect spot to observe for the beginning of class tomorrow.  Find a place that has lots of sights, sounds, smells and touch sensations.
